I am so glad I came here! The staff is very friendly and welcoming! The facility is very well kept and sanitary which I really appreciated. I have moved around from multiple other dental offices due to bad experiences. Let’s just say I am so glad I found Ohana Dental! Dr.Hong is very knowledgeable and friendly. He really takes his time to focus on you as a patient and makes sure you understand everything before moving forward.

Chris and Joy are everything you could hope for in medical professionals: competent, conscientious, and respectful. It is evident that they care for their work and patients, ensuring I was well-informed of their practice, payment plan, pandemic precautions, and more. The facilities reflect their demeanor; I have never seen such a well-though-out and advanced space for a dentist office.

What Is Gum Disease?

Gum disease is a progressive infection. It begins by attacking your gums before causing damage to the rest of your mouth, including your teeth and tooth-supporting structures. Gum disease is a common condition that is typically caused by poor oral hygiene and at-home care, allowing bacterial plaque to develop on the surfaces of your teeth. It also requires specialized care to effectively treat, called periodontal care.

How Do I Know If I Have Gum Disease?

When you first develop gum disease, it has very mild symptoms. If left untreated, gum disease has been linked to increased risk of diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and other serious conditions. It can also cause infections in your top and bottom jaws, leading to permanent tooth loss. Early detection and treatment are critical to maintaining overall oral and physical well-being.

  • Tender gums
  • Bleeding when brushing and flossing
